Hangin' Out In 100b

Also known as “Will The Circle Be Unbroken”, it was first released in 1935 but it’s still as powerful as ever. This intensely sad folky, gospel song about the death and funeral of a mother, sung by her child, is best represented when left sparse and solemn. It needs no fancy embellishments; it simply is stunning. It’s been covered by numerous bands and artists, but my favorite is this beautiful rendition sung by June Carter Cash. Her almost crackly voice, accompanied by a single guitar, unveils the heartache and a sweet vulnerability that is very hard to feign.
