What? It isn’t Friday, April 17? I don’t have From The 100(mail)b(ox) today? Okay, okay. Yes, I was supposed to do this last week. But, I missed that. And, since I enjoy digging through the 100(mail)b(ox), I’m doing it this week instead.
For your listening pleasure today – and for those what don’t know them already – I have an offering from the Evening Magazine The Ride Across Lake Constance EP released this past January. Fronted by David Disbrow (formerly of BC Camplight), Evening Magazine is a nine-piece band radiating from Philadelphia. Regular visitors to 100b will probably think this a strange selection from me. I tend to go for much more bass and music that is an obvious gut-grabber. But, I have to say “18 Wheels” struck a chord somewhere in me. There is a subdued intensity in the track that is channeled into an eminently listenable song that has me intrigued enough to look for the full EP.
Have a listen and decide for yourself. In the mean time, I’m going to find that EP and make a much-earned purchase.
